FAQS
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?
£15 per horse with a FREE height measurement if needed. There is a discount for 3 or more horses within my catchment area.
All weights are stored in a secure database so we can track changes over time.
WHAT AREA DO YOU COVER?
My main georgraphic area includes Northumberland, Tyneside, Durham and Bishop Auckland. I can travel outside this area if required under certain stipulations.
IS THERE A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF HORSES REQUIRED FOR YOU TO VISIT A YARD?
I want my service to be accessible to everyone, from livery yards to smallholdings so I do not request a minimum amount of horses. However, I try to group my clients together based on their location so sometimes there may be a little wait before I can get out to certain areas.
DO YOU REQUIRE ELECTRICITY?
No, the weighbridge is battery operated so I do not need electricity.
All I ask for is a flat accessible surface, preferably near where I can unload from my van.
There is such a high degree of user error in weight tapes that some can be out by up to 100kg! That being said, we do not discourage owners to use them as a guide or a way of measuring change even if the figure isn't accurate.
HOW DOES THE WEIGHT TAPE COMPARE?
HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL VISIT TAKE?
This is a little bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question and I do allow a lot of time should horses take a dislike to the weighbridge or measuring stick. I want my visits to be stress free, and to encourage owners to ask questions. Typically one horse can take anywhere from 5-25minutes.
ARE YOU AFFILIATED TO ANY FEED COMPANIES?
No, I pride myself in being independent. I am able to understand the compositions of a range of feeds based on what the feed company choses to release and therefore provide you with an unbiased view of the pros and cons of what you are currently feeding.
DO YOU HAVE ANY QUALIFICATIONS?
I am a member of the Equine Cushings & Insulin Resistance group following on from my studies with Dr. Kellon. I have completed two Dr Kellon courses, NRC Plus Equine Nutrition and PPID/IR. I'm a member of the British Grassland Society too, which gives me a very niche understanding of grass growth and the use of grass for forage.
I'm also an experienced Data Analyst, which allows me to provide bespoke trend analysis where needed to my regular clients.
